My parents and aunts/uncles supported me in play.  They encourage us to go outside and play.  My uncle,(my mother younger brother stayed with us),  taught me how to ride the bike.  We played relayed races.  My mom would watch us( my sister and I) play on the swing set while she hang out the clothes.  Those were the days.  Free to run and enjoy the fresh air.

Here are a few pictures of essential play items from younger years:

I feel play is both similar and different.  The kids still play some of the same games I played when I was there age.  Ring around the Rossy, Duck Duck Goose, Kickball, Basketball, Jump rope and etc. are just a few games I played.  The rules are still the same.  However technology has evolved over the years.  The graphic are better on the video games.  So  children enjoy staying inside and playing video games.

Relationship Reflection

The relationship I would like to reflect on is the one with my lord and savior Jesus Christ.  I believe that without him I could not be the person that I am today.  I hope I do not offend anyone.  I look to him for everything.  It is so important to me to a connection with God first.  I consider him to be my father, friend, counselor, healer, provider, and whatever I need him to be.  I know that he has my best interest and he will never lead me in the wrong directions.  He speaks to me through his words (bible), prayer, church, and circumstances.  I strive every day to fellowship with him.  I do face some challenges in our relationship.  I may not do what he tell me to do or sometimes I loose faith because things just did not go my way.  But God is a loving God and he will forgive me.  It is just a wonderful feeling to know that God love me and he listens to me.  God teaches me to love others as he love me.  He shows me that I should forgive just like he forgive me.  I just thought I would share that because if I did not have the relationship with God then it would be impossible for me to have relationship with others.

My relationship with my family is very important to me.  It is easy to for me to nourish my immediate family (husband and children) because I see them everyday.  I love my family but sometimes they can be a handful.  The challenges that we face in our relationship is time.  Everyone is doing something so we have to make adjustment to spend time together.  I can say that we support each other.

The other relationship I am very proud of having is the relationship with my parents from the center I used to work.  One of my goals when I was director is to get to know the children and parents.  I would greet them as they drop off and pick up.  I would try to get know them as individuals.  For example if I saw a parent come in I would try to have a short conversation about their day.  I knew all my parents by name.  I would try to get the parents involved not only the center program but also the church activities as well.  When the church closed the center, the majority of the parents still contact me.  The parents knew that I was going to take of the children and they cared for me as much as I cared for them.  It was not an easy process.  It took time and trust.  Some I had some  culture and language challenge.  I had to step out the box and go into the community.  I had to learn their culture and try to speak slower so they could understand me. I even hired some one who speak a 2nd language.

I feel that everyone want to have a relationship with someone or things.  We want to know that someone care about us.  It makes us feel good to know that someone or things is besides through the everything.
