I think children should be assessed. Assessment is important because all the decision we will make about children when teaching and caring for them. When we assessed children, it helped measure our teaching methods. Yes assessment help teacher identify what the child know but it purpose is much more than that. It identify children's special needs
It is also important for assessment to developmentally appropriate and age specific to ensure success and accurate results. There are recommended ways to assess young children and they include observations, student's work, teacher created test or projects, and parent conferences. This information should be used guide instruction and develop lesson plans.
ReplyDeleteStephanie,
ReplyDeleteI definitely respect your stance on IQ testing. I think that there may be a place for intelligence testing. However, I do believe in taking other factors into consideration. You raise a good argument for IQ testing in terms of measuring teacher effectiveness.
